What is Orofacial Harmonization?
Orofacial harmonization is a set of aesthetic procedures which are responsible for the aesthetic and functional balance of the face. It seeks the balance and harmony of the smile and face through the synergy of dental treatments and of treatments of the supporting tissues and perioral region.
What kind of treatments are performed
in Orofacial Harmonization?
- Application of botulinum toxin (Botox®)
- Application of fillers, such as hyaluronic acid;
- Thread lifts;
- Superficial peelings.
What is botulinum toxin?
Botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox®, is a natural protein that locally and reversibly inhibits muscle contraction and gland secretion. Its application is indicated for achieving the following results:
Weaken/prevent the appearance of expression wrinkles in the upper third of the face;
Avoid the appearance of “bunny lines” (wrinkles on the nose) and “crow’s feet” (wrinkles around the eyes);
Correction of gummy smile (in specific cases):
Arch the eyebrows;
Correction of the inversion of labial commissures;
Reduction of wrinkles around the mouth, in the chin and neck area.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the skin which gives it its moisture, elasticity, and resilience. In the course of the skin’s natural aging process, there is a decrease in the hyaluronic acid levels. Gel syringes containing hyaluronic acid are used as facial fillers; examples of application areas are:
Optimization/recovery of lip support and volume;
Filling of the malar region (cheekbones);
Correcting/defining the gonial angle;
Support of the nasolabial fold, known as the Chinese moustache;
Rhinoplasty without surgery;
Lower eyelid filler, also known as treatment for dark circles under the eyes;
Moisturizing the skin by attracting water molecules and collagen.
Prevention and Anti-Aging
The application of Botox®, by decreasing muscle contraction intensity, prevents the appearance of new dynamic wrinkles and smooths existing static wrinkles.
Your face will look younger and invigorated, delaying any changes resulting from the natural aging process of the face.
Correction of asymmetries.
Prevention and Anti-Aging
The application of hyaluronic acid is used to restore the volume in facial areas modified by the natural aging process, or for filling furrows and static wrinkles.
The application of hyaluronic acid allows the shape and contours of the face and lips to be increased or redefined. Each case is planned in a personalized way, taking into account the facial features of each patient so that it fits their face, suits their personality, and increases their self-esteem.
In certain cases, it is possible to correct facial asymmetries or a gummy smile with the application of hyaluronic acid.
