Oral Hygiene

What is Oral Hygiene?

Oral hygiene is essential for the prevention, maintenance and long-term stability of dental treatments, playing an educational and preventive role for each patient, in order to adjust oral hygiene habits to each specific case.

In the oral hygiene appointment, we conduct a screening for possible oral problems and redirect the patient to the appropriate specialist.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GO TO ORAL HYGIENE APPOINTMENTS?

Oral hygiene visits should be regular, usually every 6 months.

For all these reasons, wisdom teeth often end up being extracted in order to treat or prevent these common problems.

DO I REALLY NEED TO FLOSS?

Yes, flossing is essential to properly clean the spaces between your teeth and gums.

Ideally, you should floss at least once a day and before brushing, in order to prevent tooth decay.

WHAT TYPE OF TOOTHBRUSH SHOULD I USE?

There are several criteria to be taken into account when choosing the ideal toothbrush, but what you must guarantee is that you choose a toothbrush with soft and levelled bristles, and preferably a small head, so that it can reach all of your teeth.

ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH OR MANUAL TOOTHBRUSH, WHICH IS MORE EFFECTIVE?

Its effectiveness is linked to the brushing time and technique. The electric toothbrush and the manual toothbrush are equally effective when applying the correct brushing technique, and therefore the best option is the one that better suits the needs of each patient.

WHICH TOOTHPASTE SHOULD I USE?

When choosing a toothpaste, we should pay attention to its ability to remineralize teeth. You should always choose a fluoride paste, 1490 ppm, regardless of brand or flavour! When the time to make a decision comes, it is important to choose a toothpaste that suits your current condition.
